Interests, Techniques, and Training
Barbi is the Head Shape/Plagiocephaly Clinic Director at the International Craniofacial Institute. Barbi joined the International Craniofacial Institute after years of primary care experience and, more recently, craniofacial experience – including developing and directing the Plagiocephaly Clinic at Children’s Medical Center. Barbi is experienced in all aspects of pediatric nursing, but her particular area of interest is evaluation and treatment of abnormal head shape conditions in infants (from birth through 12 months of age). She is also an expert in pediatric primary care and sleep training for newborns.
Writing and Speaking
Barbi enjoys educating parents, care-takers, and medical professionals on plagiocephaly prevention and treatment, with an emphasis on tummy time and neck stretching exercises, as well as newborn sleep training. She welcomes speaking opportunities on these topics.
Barbi earned her undergraduate degree in Nursing from the University of Miami. For 10 years, she worked as a Pediatric Nurse in hospitals and clinics until she received her Master of Science at Texas Woman’s University in 2006 with honors. She has since worked as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in a private practice as well as at Medical City Dallas Children’s Hospital’s Craniofacial Clinic.
