Apert Syndrome Before & After Pictures in Dallas, TX

Apert syndrome occurs whenever there is a premature fusing of cranial sutures during pregnancy. Resulting in retruded features, Apert syndrome requires surgery to correct deformities and promote normal functioning. The International Craniofacial Institute in Dallas, Texas treats Apert syndrome.

Apert syndrome is a condition that results in a malformation of the skull and face. It is a complex condition that can require as many as 20 surgeries, beginning at under one year of age and continuing through the teenage years. The various craniofacial surgeries all produce different results but are designed to give the face and skull a more normal appearance, while also providing adequate room for the brain to grow and develop.

The most dramatic results are visible after a LeFort II osteotomy to bring the facial features forward, which is typically done later in childhood. Results may also be clearly visible after surgery to the hands, feet, skull, or eye sockets as well.

Take a look at these before and after photographs to see the type of results that could be possible after having one of the many Apert syndrome surgeries.
