Heather Selck
Heather Selck, the NAM Specialist at Sage Plastic Surgery, provides pre-surgical orthopedic care for babies with cleft lip and palate. Her unwavering goal is to deliver exceptional care to both patients and their families.
Heather’s career in cleft lip and palate care began in the early 1990s and has been enriched by collaboration with many esteemed craniofacial surgeons such as Dr. P. Craig Hobar who founded the LEAP Global Missions. She is now privileged to work alongside Dr. Law, adding him to the distinguished list of professionals who have influenced her passion and dedication to improving the lives of these young patients. Throughout her career, Heather has embraced an innovative, “outside-the-box” approach, creating personalized devices and treatment plans that enhance surgical outcomes for babies born with cleft lip and palate.
Beyond her clinical expertise, Heather is deeply committed to building meaningful relationships with the families she serves. She considers it a privilege to walk alongside them at the beginning of their cleft journey, and she cherishes the special connections that often lead to being affectionately called “Aunt Heather” by many of the children she cares for. She takes pride in equipping parents with the knowledge and support they need to provide essential home care during their three-and-a-half months of treatment, ensuring the best possible outcomes by aligning and approximating gum and nasal tissues in preparation for surgery.
Heather often reflects on her work as a “dream job” and feels immense gratitude for the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of cleft babies and their families. She credits her success to the unwavering support of her husband and best friend, Paul, who has been her greatest cheerleader. Paul shares her excitement about her role on Dr. Law’s craniofacial team. Outside of work, Heather enjoys adventures with Paul, kayaking, and jewelry making, but her greatest passion remains providing care for these precious little ones.
